VanDam Holds Off Horton's Charge, Wins By 1-01

Horton said his 2nd-place finish was about as fun as a non-victory could possibly be.

"It went really well," he said. "I had no idea Kevin was going to slack off a little and make it that interesting, but it sure makes it fun.

"To come back that way and be that close, it's the neatest thing I've experienced in fishing in a long time. And it's going to make for great TV."

He said he went through about 40 4-pounders on the day. He eventually boated a pair that went 6-06 each and lost one that probably had half a pound on them.

His lone regret was day 2, when he came in with a bag that was shy of 15 pounds.

"I don't know what happened that day – maybe my timing was a little off. I was on the right schools and it was just a matter of hitting them at the right time." Read Story
